We r from San Diego and love hibachi style dining! We were so happy to have found this place. We are here to snowboard but decided to come down the mountain to try it but the first night we came it was so busy we left and ate somewhere else. We drove back down the next day (today) and it was a great choice. Our chef was so funny! Will defiantly come again next time we r in town!!

BEST place to spend your birthday. Top notch service. We came with a big group on a whim, after a snowstorm changed our camping plans. Heather was a great host, and made our crew feel right at home. Sake bombs and Burning Man sushi rolls highly recommended!

My party of 6 came on a Sunday evening and we're underwhelmed by the sushi and service. The $5.99 sushi deal is fantastic and I would highly recommend going before 6:30 to take advantage of that. Although the sushi was good it seemed to lack something. The service was definitely sub par. We rarely saw our waitress and when we did the help was mediocre.

This was my husbands first experience having Hibachi grill, and it could not have been any better! We shared the geisha combination, and it was more than enough food for 2 hungry people! Friendly and prompt service! We would definitely make an effort to come back!!

Ninja hit the mark for my fiancé and me tonight! We tried the Las Vegas roll for the first time and it was awesome! We also got our usual rolls of Unagi Nigiri, Crispy Unagi, California Roll and King Cobra, all very good and delicious as always! Though we've kind of given up on their dinners, have yet to be let down with their sushi! Oh and not to mention the salad, we always get that and it is always tasty! Great job guys! Happy to see that you have upped your game again! :)

The manager ken is extremely nice. The dinners are a little pricy but it's a great value at lunch time, especially for a lunch box. The food is always of great quality and taste. The service is decent. Sometimes great, sometimes ok. Will be going back :)

Tried this place for the first time yesterday for lunch. Service was great, our waitress was very knowledgable about the menu, and food was rather good, except for the teriyaki sauce on the beef teriyaki I ordered. It was really.. Slimy. Other than that, I'd probably come back for happy hour. I moved from southern cali so I've tried many sushi restaurants and this one probably wouldn't be my first pick... Our overall experience was great.

How to say "Bravo" in Japanese? The place was full of what appeared to be locals, and regulars--a good sign. We were impressed. Great to find a good Japanese place in a smaller city. + Three different seating options. + Very good food for the money. + Good, respectful service. + Really good teriyaki; not fake corn syrup stuff as out of a bottle. + Easy on/off I-15. I will definitely eat at this place again, would definitely recommend it.

We ordered 7 sushi dishes. King Cobra and Scott on the Sushi Hour/ happy hour were our favorites. Very good service and delicious food. The waitress had tried a lot of the food items before and was able to give us very informative recommendations and even said they could add cilantro to the sushi (which she said tasted really good). The restaurant is very oriental and very cool. Lots of ninja stuff. They also have hibachis or places to cook the food right in front of you. There are many choices to choose from. They have all kinds of specials/ discounts too. If it's your birthday, they'll take your picture and put it on the wall. It's a pretty sweet place. Check it out. :)

My husband and I ate here today during their lunch hours. He got a sushi combo and I had the teriyaki chicken lunch box. I was very disappointed with the chicken, as it has a chewy, under cooked texture to it. I only ended up eating my salad and white rice. The waitress didn't bother to ask if everything was ok, even after she saw almost a full plate of food going to waste. I'm always afraid to complain about the food, just because of all the horrors of people in restaurant kitchens. We also got the chili garlic edamame, which we both really love. We probably won't go back to Ninja during the lunch hours. I feel like it's not as good as the evening menu.

Food was fantastic! We had Wyatt as our server and he was great. Coming from Las Vegas we have lots of sushi options and this place is high on my list. I highly recommend it.

It's ok sushi, with happy hour prices, it's worthy of a good meal. Service is a bit slow, though.

My family and I had an enjoyable night! Our chef at the grill was entertaining as well as skilled. We had fun trying to catch shrimp with our mouths and much more.

The food here is delicious and very reasonably priced. Who would have thought you could find good sushi in Utah!

It's nice to be able to get some decent sushi when traveling through small towns. Service was very good, and the fish was fresh (by central US standards - only so much you can do that far from the coast). The rolls could be a little more imaginative, and be sure to have them put the sauce on the side unless you want the rolls drowned in it (we were forewarned) - but they were more than sufficient to satisfy our sushi cravings. The nigiri and sashimi were fine as well. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Dear Ninja Sushi, The woman at the front was very friendly but had difficultly understanding what I was saying. While I am not a native speaker of Japanese, I am from Hawaii, married to a man fluent in the language and am confident in my pronunciation of "agedashi tofu" and "vegetable yakisoba". I began with the proper pronunciation, tried to evolve to a more Caucasian pronunciation, and finally wound up pointing at the items on the menu. It then made a lot of sense when she repeated the items back to me and I had not a clue what she was saying. Ha. I also did not receive my agedashi tofu but I forgive you for that. We came for the Cedar roll at my husband's aunt's insistence that it was going to be a veritable party in our mouths. Thinly sliced lemon on a sushi roll? Who would've thought. It was rather good. I was somewhat dismayed at the amount of sushi rolls that contained cream cheese, I suppose that must be a White people thing, but the rolls were decent and enjoyable. Would I be back? Probably for happy hour. I felt the food was a touch pricey for what we got and there are many other places (Like Hong Kong Buffet) that will give you far more bang for your buck. Sincerely, Angela

Cedar City is quite a nice little city. It was our first visit there. If you are looking for classic Japanese food, this nice restaurant will fit the bill. Entertaining cook at the table-side grill. Food was very good.

Whenever I need a special treat, I head over to ninja restaurant. We've eaten there many times and their sushi is delicious! It seems like they are always running some great specials. The hibachi is fun and yummy too. I highly recommend it!

Great experience and also great food here. All sauces are made in house, locally owned, and very friendly waiting staff, sushi chef was nice and let us know how sauces were made, and waitress was exceptionally nice and funny. Prices are in line with most places.

Some friends brought me to Ninja for dinner while I was visiting Cedar City. We ordered an appetizer, 2 sushi rolls to share, and each ordered an entree. Portions are huge! The Corona roll was super delicious and nicely presented. Also, I loved the Beef Negimaki (sp?). The restaurant was clean, and the service was good.

We stopped here today during our visit to Cedar City. We had the soft shell crab and special dinner that includes Dragon & Tsunami Sushi Rolls; 10 nigiri pieces includes 2 pieces of Ebi, tomago, crab stick, hokki gai, una gi and seaweed salad. It was really good especially the dragon roll. We like the bread crumb that makes it so crunchy. Hokki gai was chewy but we found out it came in a packet so they can't really do anything about that. The waitress was very attentive.

I feel like a sushi amateur, but out of all the places I've eaten sushi, this is the best. There fish taste fresh, the rice is sticky and satisfying and the seaweed is very tender. Their miso soup is delicious. A year ago, I tried the hibachi and it was entertaining and delicious as well.

Not my favorite. We had the lunch specials which came with a lot of food, but it just wasn't super good. My husband ordered the teriyaki chicken lunch meal and thought the texture of the chicken was like fish. The California rolls were good and the potstickers were good too. I had the yakisoba veggie and thought it was more like lo mein. The prices were reasonable. I had the seaweed salad which was excellent and good portion size. Is probably come back for the sushi but not the other meals.

My husband walked in to order takeout for us. He says "The person taking the order got it wrong twice. Granted, she didn't speak the english too well. She finally got it "right," and sent it in. I waited for over an hour for my order. 45 minutes into my wait, she comes up to me and tells me she "calculated the price wrong, and that I owe her 27 cents." Ok . . . I pull out the change to pay her, and she refuses it . . . ok . . . I finally get my food and take it home. Miso soup - Powdered. Not even mixed. The powder mix was thrown into some hot water and the lid was put on. Mixed it myself and tried to eat it. Almost vomited. Teriyaki - Laughable. The chicken was boiled and did not have the sauce on it. Sauce was watery, and tasted awful. There was half an orange in it, and there were no vegetables except for a pinch of raw cabbage. Salad - Brown and rotten. I am legitimately offended by this point. Sushi rolls - I ordered a Philadelphia roll. This is a salmon, cream cheese, and avocado roll. I specifically asked to NOT put any cucumber in it at all. I asked for a Philadelphia roll with Shrimp tempura. Then, because she didn't speak english so well, I said fried shrimp, cream cheese, and avocado. Rolls were disgusting. Something was wrong with the wasabi; It tasted powdery. The ginger was not fresh. The shrimp was still in its shell. Neither roll had avocado, and were both swimming in cucumber. This place is terrible. I will not be going back. I do not suggest anyone else going. I payed over 30 dollars for this meal, and for every part of it to be terrible is just a disgusting show of service. Do NOT eat here." I was disappointed at the lack of quality in the food. I could have done every bit of that with the food that was in my own pantry. It doesn't take much to boil chicken and rice, put that chicken on some raw coleslaw mix, and put some pre-made soupy teriyaki sauce in a to-go cup and call it a day. I expected more, and it left much to be desired.

As an SF native acclimated to the bounty of culture and myriad Asian cuisines of the Bay Area, I was surprised to see a Japanese restaurant in Utah, of all places. I wasn't expecting authentic Japanese food, and thus wasn't surprised when I received my meal. Though the selection is diverse, the sushi is a bit overpriced for its taste--sushi purists would be very disappointed. I don't understand how you can blotch miso soup either; it's bland and powdery and doesn't even taste like miso. Lastly, my spicy chicken yakisoba was composed of nothing more than chow mein with sriracha and drenched in oil and veggies. However, the service was efficient and friendly (though I'm witnessing a few customers noisily complaining about this as I write). I'd avoid ordering out here, as there seems to be an excessive wait for the food. The restaurant itself attempts to mirror true Japanese culture, from the sushi bar to the space decorations to the bathroom fixtures. To top it off, there's also a Benihana-style grill and chef for premier events as well. I'd recommend coming here for the sushi happy hour (4:00-6:30), or for birthdays.

Best sushi place I'm town! They also speak good English, and they have tepanhaki. Me and my family have been going to Sushi Ninja for years now and we got disappointed. 5 starts for being the best sushi place in 50 miles and reasonable price.

Good rolls. We were in the dining room. Seating was nice not too crowded between tables. Enjoyed the happy hour rolls dinner for 3 for less than $40 Pleasantly surprised to find a decent sushi place in Cedar City. Go for happy hour 4:40-6:30. They have approx 11 roll choices for $5.99 each

This is the best place to eat in Cedar City. Every other Tuesday a group of us gets together, and we request Heather because she handles our group so well. Ninja offers 50% off sushi during the week, and they do hibachi grill. I have received superior customer service from this place in the past. They have gone so far as to run to the grocery store to get me orange juice when they were out. I highly recommend it.

    (5)
  • Jason C.

My wife and I really enjoy the lunch special here. The amount of food you get for the price has got to be one of the best food to cost ratios in town. The hibachi is always a good time and awesome entertainment before a great meal. Never have we had any problems with service at this place, and that seems to be a rarity anymore. Thanks Ninja!

When my bf suggested sushi in CC, I was worried. I'm part Asian and well, I had my doubts. We went during happy hour which was quite inexpensive. We stayed away from the fried and tempura rolls (which were practically all of them). Most of the maki had avocado or cream cheese which must be popular around these parts. They don't have avocado in Japan. Anyway, we ordered the Hamada and Red Dragon maki and tuna, salmon and yellow tail nigiri which were quite good. Ninja is typical of an Asian-fusion type of sushi bar, certainly not authentic but higher on the "yum" factor -- creamy, crunchy, umami. I generally stay away from Teppan grill Japanese restaurants and it seems like this place is divided into two, so you don't have to be part of the knife throwing spectacle. And unlike some Teppan grills, this restaurant wasn't smoky which is a good thing. Our waitress was sweet and efficient. Good service. I gave 4 stars for sushi in CC and because we'll likely return, however relative to other sushi bars in other cities, the rating would be lower, if that makes sense.

Being the dude who always wants to try the new place can get you burned sometimes. My Sweet Wife wanted to go to Applebee's. "Come on" she said. "You know what you're getting at Applebee's and the one near us closed down years ago. It'll be like a reunion." But I cajoled and we went here. The rolls were dry and nearly flavorless. The service was kind and I think they were trying but they missed the mark. My daughter did spice things up a bit when she began retching at the table. My wife puts her hand underneath to try to help, then quickly grabs the rice bowl and lets my daughter puke into that. Sweetie and kiddo go to the bathroom to clean up and I get to walk the bowl over to the waitress and explain what's inside. Should 'ave gone to Applebee's!

Love this place. Good prices and atmosphere. Awesome... Especially for a town as small as Cedar.

Would give 0 stars if I could. I was passing through for a festival and craving hibachi and some sushi rolls. Restaurant was empty when I got there but it still took forever. Only one other party of two came in the whole time I was there. Rolls weren't as described on the menu and didn't taste anything like it was supposed to. It was grocery store quality at best, but cheap for a sit down place. My waitress appeared to be on some kind of drugs. I later discovered a member of their staff stole my credit card information and they refused to respond when I tried to report it to them.

It was absolutely delicious!!! The best Sushi I ever had. The owner was so cool and went out of his way to take care of us. Very nice guy and very professional. After this plate, I ordered another plate of just the Nigiri. Donna didn't like hers and so he made her of plate of some things that were cooked (hehe) and she enjoyed that. Then we were treated to some Tempura Ice Cream....OMG!.....YUM! My favorite Sushi place for sure! Will definitely going back for more, every chance I get.

The Sushi was excellent. The noodles for the Udon were overcooked and soggy. Our waitress was awesome.

We had sushi at Ninja while attending the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City and were pleasantly surprised! We've eaten sushi at many, many nice sushi restaurants and this was some of the best sushi we've ever had! The fried rolls were light and not super heavy like most places, all the sushi tasted fresh and everything came really fast. The only thing I would change is their happy hour times weren't listed anywhere online and we missed it by 10 minutes. Happy Hour is from 4:30-6:30pm on weekdays and they have $5.99 rolls. We were happy with everything we ordered!

    (5)
  • Bruce B.

Had lunch in this small sushi bar. Fish was fresh however the roll that came with lunch tasted like it was pre made and was dry. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Lunch they do not have a full menu so one is restricted to certain items and no sake for lunch. This is good for a quick fix while in Cedar City.

Ok, before I begin my review, I have to disclose that I hate hibachi restaurants. As someone who lived in Japan for 5 years, I find them completely inauthentic. I always feel embarrassed for the "chef" who has to put on a slappy-throwy-knife show and set an onion volcano on fire to entertain his dinner guests. Now for my Ninja review. Restaurants like this are the reason I hate hibachi. Over-teriyaki'd veggies, meat, and seafood, dried-out rice, consomme soup with some Chinese noodles thrown in there. I glanced at the sushi menu and it seemed overpriced and completely unappetizing. (Deep fried sushi rolls?? WTF!) But, I had calamari tempura as an appetizer and was pleased with it. Additionally, the service was friendly, although some of the waitresses were a little spacy.

My wife and two young children stopped here while driving home from California back to Draper, Utah. We ready the reviews on my blackberry and decided to try it out. The overall impression of the place was positive, it is in a clean shopping center area. We were greeted immediately as we walked in and seated immediately as well. They have Ichiban style tables, but we chose the sushi area. The Sushi menu was pretty extensive, the quality of the fish was also very good. I would say our overall experience was positive and we would stop here again when in Cedar City.

  • David H.

My girlfriend and I are visiting my folks in Cedar City and we drove by Ninja earlier in the day. I looked it up on Yelp and found that it was a hibachi style restaurant, which we normally do not like, but that it also is a sushi restaurant. The sushi was awesome. Definitely one of the best I've had. The staff was very nice and friendly and the atmosphere was just ok. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody.

    (5)
  • Melissa H.

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food at Ninja but was disappointed that the server wasn't dressed up in a ninja outfit as they are in New York. Sushi was fresh and better than some of the non japanese owned restaurants I've been to. The prices were reasonable compare to other hibachi restaurants and highly suggest going to Ninja versus the chain restaurants in the area.

    (4)
  • Richard R.

Good food at prices that aren't entirely so bad. I took my girlfriend there and we really enjoyed it together. Definitely a good date place in Cedar City, one of the few "dressy" restaurants around. I would suggest trying it.

We decided to stop here on our way from Vegas to have a sightseeing tour of the famed Bryce Canyon. We were pretty hungry, and after seeing that it was pretty popular (even on a Monday night), we decided to indulge ourselves in some Japanese food. The waitress greeted us with a big smile and sat us quickly; food came a bit slowly. We ordered two Pork Katsu & one Fish Katsu; both were fairly mundane, but none the less tasty and ample. I take a star off, because they charged us $5.80 for tea. Funny, how they gave us one kettle, but charged us two dollars for each "cup." No warning or anything. Ruined what otherwise would have been a satisfying meal. Just beware of this!

  • TJ T.

Not as bad as I thought. Not that I had any real good reason to NOT think sushi would be good here. I guess just the simple fact that it's sushi in a remote town in UTAH didn't get my hopes up too much. But I might have just been state profiling. Anyhow sushi was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had, but better than a small town with few asians, would be on an average scale. Therefore you get 4 stars!

    (4)
  • Alissa L.

We went here for our second time while in town for the Utah Shakespearean festival. Both times the service has been good and the fish surprisingly fresh for land-locked southern Utah. I am a big tuna fan and fairly picky, and the fish was great! The rolls are generous in their portions and the sit down dining option is good for when you want to spend more time talking with your table partner(s), while the hibachi experience is fun for groups! How many places can you go where you get to tryout your mouth's shrimp catching skills?

    (5)
  • Patrick D.

It's all relative folks. I am spoiled with Nobu grade sushi but I also eat grocery store. This obviously closer to the lower end. But for Cedar City is probably the best. Dividing my perception of quality over cost, it was below par. But good people and they are doing their best

    (2)
  • Sean L.

First place i ate in cedar city while on a mini vacation for the Shakespeare Festival. beyond the atmosphere i cannot say too much for the place. i ordered a rather simple roll of sushi and it took forEVER to get to my table. my mother got her meal long before i got mine. that said, the service is genuinely helpful about 60% of the time. considering my previous experience with sushi rolls (super-mega-giant-burrito roll), i really enjoyed this place's food. all around a decent place to eat. nothing too special, but good all around.

  • Jennifer Z.

Service spot on. Very at tentative with out being over bothersome. Excellent selection very reasonable price compared to Vegas locations. 8 hibachi cooking tables would be excellent for private functions. Spicy chicken was a 10 on 10 spicy level about a 6. Spicy tuna hand roll was very tasty and generous. Green tea gen maisha (brown rice) was very good also. We will be coming back next time we are in Cedar City.

While visiting the Shakespearean Festival, my wife and I stopped in for the teppanyaki at Ninja's Japanese Restaurant. Was delighted by the chef. Very practiced presentation lots of fun and a few corny jokes. We will be back again next year. Price was about $60 for the two of us, which I feel is very reasonable for the amount of food, the quality and the presentation. Highly reccomend!

  • Shirl S.

Seemed like fun at first. They do not have their alcohol license but don't tell you until you pick something alcoholic off their menu. Cook we got did not follow requests and was kind of a jerk about it. The request was fried rice, one without onions two with. Didn't seem hard. Ordered apetizers that never came but the worst was the 12 hours three of the five of us spent sick that night, I mean every kind of sick you can imagine! Eat at your own risk!

We had a great meal here. The cooking on the table was entertaining and the food was delicious. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be having a good time.
